“I fully support Mayor Lee’s decision to appoint Jeff Sheehy to represent District 8 on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Jeff has my total support and confidence, and I will do whatever I can to support his work for the residents of District 8 and for San Francisco.

Jeff is an extraordinary leader and exactly what we need right now — a strong, decisive, and passionate voice for our shared progressive values, and someone who deeply understands the needs of our neighborhoods.

As a decades-long advocate for expanding healthcare access and for HIV care and prevention services, Jeff will be a leader for expanding access to healthcare, compassionately helping homeless people off the streets, and responding to the disastrous healthcare plans of the Trump Administration. As a public school parent raising his daughter in Glen Park, Jeff understands that great public schools are critical for our community’s success. As a longtime progressive advocate, Jeff will work tirelessly to address our housing crisis and support our public transit systems. Jeff also deeply understands the need to have safe, clean, and welcoming neighborhoods.

Jeff will be the only LGBT member of the Board of Supervisors — the first time in decades that San Francisco has not had at least two LGBT Supervisors. He will also be the first HIV-positive member of the Board of Supervisors in San Francisco’s history. Our community needs strong leadership, and Jeff will provide it.

Mayor Lee selected Jeff among a group of highly qualified, terrific candidates. I thank all of the candidates for their passion to serve our city and our community. I congratulate Jeff on his appointment and look forward to partnering with him to move our city in a positive direction.”
